Canadian Adoption Fee & What It Covers

The adoption fee for dogs placed in Canada is $850 CAD — applicable to both adult dogs and puppies:

This fee helps cover the essential care your new companion receives before arriving at your home, in

✅ Core Vaccinations

✅ Spay/Neuter Procedure

✅ Comprehensive Veterinary Screening as per Rescue Protocols

✅ Any Additional Medical Treatment Necessary to ensure Adoptability (e.g., dental work, hernia repair, skin conditions, respiratory infections)

✅ Microchipping for Identification

✅ Transport from Texas to Ancaster, Ontario

✅ Food, Housing & Overall Care While in Rescue

🐾 Puppies will also receive two booster shots to support their early immunity and wellbeing.

Your adoption fee ensures each dog is healthy, safe, and ready to thrive in a loving home.

It also supports our ongoing efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and place dogs in homes where they’ll truly be cherished. 🐾 🐾

Thank you for your interest in adopting through Texas Chihuahua Rescue Canada.

Our volunteer team will be taking a short holiday break from December 24–28 and again from December 31–January 02. During these dates, application processing and general inquiries will be paused, and volunteers will not be responding to routine messages.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our team enjoys this special time of year with their families, fosters, and beloved rescue dogs. Your support means the world to us, and we are grateful for every adopter, volunteer, alumni family, and donor who helps make our mission possible.

We look forward to reconnecting with you in the new year and continuing to help small dogs find the safe, loving homes they deserve.

🐶 Texas Chihuahua Rescue – Adopter Agreement Addendums

As an approved adopter of a Texas Chihuahua Rescue (TXCR) dog, I agree to the following terms:

💰 Adoption Fee

I understand that once the adoption fee is paid in full, it is non-refundable.

🩺 Medical Responsibility

I acknowledge that my adopted dog is a rescue animal, and TXCR has completed medical and behavioral assessments in accordance with recognized rescue protocols.
I accept full responsibility for all ongoing and future medical care after adoption.

🏡 Living Conditions

My adopted dog will never live outdoors under any circumstances.
I will ensure the dog receives flea/tick and heartworm prevention for a full 12 months post-adoption. After that, I may transition to seasonal treatments if approved by my veterinarian.
I will maintain annual routine vaccinations at my own expense.

📞 Communication & Emergencies

I will contact TXCR immediately if:
- My dog goes missing
- I am no longer able to care for them
- I face emergency rehoming, hospitalization, or other incapacity
I will not sell, surrender, or rehome my dog without TXCR’s guidance.

🐕 Dog Profile & Behavior

I understand that breed, age, health, nature, and temperament are not guaranteed due to the nature of rescue.
I agree to hold TXCR and its volunteers harmless for any injury, property damage, or harm caused by the dog.
I acknowledge that behavioral changes may occur post-adoption and commit to seeking professional support or TXCR advice as needed.

🚚 Transport

I am responsible for pickup or transport of my adopted dog unless a separate agreement is made with TXCR.
